US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio Announce Plan to Utilize Venezuelan Oil
In a recent media briefing at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, US President Donald Trump stated that the country aims to rebuild Venezuela’s oil infrastructure, which would require significant funding. The funds would be provided directly by the oil companies involved.
Trump also mentioned that proceeds from the sale of Venezuelan oil would be used to benefit both Venezuelans and Americans. This plan was echoed by Rubio in his recent comments.
However, it is worth noting that US sanctions on Venezuela have been a major obstacle to the country’s ability to attract investments and drive economic growth. The sanctions have also led to a significant refugee crisis.
According to Trump, Venezuela would transfer 30-50 million barrels of sanctioned oil to the US. He stated that this oil would be sold at market price, with the proceeds controlled by him as President of the United States.
The plan involves storing the oil on ships and transporting it directly to unloading docks in the US. Trump directed his energy secretary, Chris Wright, to execute the plan immediately.
It is reported that 30 million barrels of oil would be worth approximately $1.68 billion at current market prices, while 50 million barrels would be worth around $2.8 billion.
Experts have expressed concerns about the implications of this plan, with some arguing that it could be seen as an act of colonization and a violation of international law.
