US President Trump to Consider Adopting Israeli Stance on Iran Policy

US-Iran Talks Face Uncertainty Amid Changing Negotiation Terms

The Quincy Institute’s Trita Parsi has expressed concerns about the prospects of successful negotiations between the US and Iran, citing “changing goal posts” in the talks. According to Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, if the Trump administration adopts Israel’s proposed “red lines,” the talks are likely to be unsuccessful.

Parsi stated that Iran has shown a willingness to reach a deal on its nuclear program, as it did in 2015 with then-President Barack Obama. However, the outcome depends on whether the US is willing to push back against Israeli demands.

Israeli officials have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the US’s current approach, which prioritizes diplomacy over military action. They are seeking to add new issues to the agenda, particularly Iran’s ballistic missiles program.

The Quincy Institute’s Trita Parsi emphasized that the talks’ success hinges on the US’s willingness to address these concerns. The situation remains uncertain, and further developments will be necessary to determine the outcome of the negotiations.
