US Proposes 15-Point Plan to End Conflict with Iran
A high-ranking diplomatic source has confirmed that the United States has submitted a 15-point plan to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between the two countries. According to the source, Tehran described the proposal as “extremely maximalist and unreasonable” and stated that it is not beautiful even on paper.
The US President Donald Trump had claimed earlier that negotiations were underway between Washington and Tehran to reach an agreement to end the nearly one-month-long conflict. However, Iranian officials have denied these claims.
The source explained that Iran has a clear understanding of what conditions it requires for a ceasefire and what it will reject. The proposal includes sanctions relief, a rollback of Iran’s nuclear program, limits on missiles, and restrictions on Iran’s support for armed groups.
Mediators are pushing for possible in-person talks between the Iranians and the Americans as early as Friday in Pakistan. Egyptian officials have offered to host any meetings related to Iran, provided they serve de-escalation purposes.
Pakistan is seen as a unique position due to its Shia minority, good ties with Iran, and defense agreement with Saudi Arabia. The country’s military leader also has a relationship with Trump, which puts it in a favorable position to act as a mediator between the two sides.
Turkiye has also been trying to position itself as a possible mediator, passing messages between Tehran and Washington. Iranian state television quoted an anonymous official stating that Iran rejected the US ceasefire proposal, citing its own five-point plan for ending the war.
The US proposal includes restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, limits on missiles, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for global oil supplies. Israeli officials were surprised by the submission of a ceasefire plan, according to an anonymous source.
Iran remains highly suspicious of the United States due to past attacks during high-level diplomatic talks. The country has rejected the US proposal, stating that it will end the war when its own conditions are met.
