US seeks deal with Iran amid rising desertions among striking workers

US and Iranian officials have made conflicting statements regarding the ongoing conflict. According to a Bloomberg report, Norwegian politician Hegseth stated that strikes in Iran are causing desertions among Iranian troops.

Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that US President Trump has threatened to attack Iran’s infrastructure, with missiles and drones being reported across the Persian Gulf. WSJ also cited Hegseth as saying that the coming days will be decisive for Iran.

Reuters reported that Hegseth warned of “decisive” action in the conflict, while USA Today stated that gas prices have passed $4 due to the ongoing tensions.

In a separate statement, Reuters reported that Tehran has threatened US businesses operating in the region.
