US Troops in Iran Face Increased Risk of Casualties Under Trumps Leadership

US President Donald Trump Vows to Continue “Righteous Mission” Against Iran

In a video posted to his Truth Social account on Sunday, US President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to continuing the “righteous mission” against Iran until all objectives are achieved. Trump stated that the war against Iran is a response to an existential threat to the US, citing the potential for an Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons.

Trump’s comments come after Saturday’s attacks on Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking members of the country’s leadership. The US launched its attacks alongside Israel during ongoing US-Iran talks on its nuclear program.

The US has confirmed three military personnel deaths in the region amid Iran’s retaliation. Trump acknowledged these losses, stating that “there will likely be more” before the mission is completed.

Trump also referenced his willingness to engage with Iran’s new leadership, which was announced earlier Sunday. The new leadership includes President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi.

In his speech, Trump called for regime change in Iran and offered amnesty to Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members who “lay down” their arms. He warned that those who do not surrender will face “certain death”. The US has also launched attacks alongside Israel during previous negotiations with Iran.

Trump’s comments mark a stark contrast to earlier statements he made throughout the day, which appeared to suggest diplomatic off-ramps. However, Trump reiterated his commitment to continuing the mission until all objectives are achieved.
