Former World Heavyweight Champion Returns to UK After Fatal Car Crash in Nigeria

Anthony Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion, has reportedly returned to the United Kingdom after recovering from minor injuries sustained during a fatal car crash in Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday near Lagos, where Joshua was traveling with friends Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele. Both Ghami and Ayodele died as a result of the accident.

Joshua, who suffered minor injuries, was discharged from hospital on Wednesday after being deemed clinically fit to recuperate at home. British media reported that Joshua had returned to the UK before the funerals of his friends. Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was a trainer.

The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, has been charged with “dangerous driving causing death” by Nigerian police. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 20. The incident occurred on a busy highway linking Lagos and Ibadan in southwest Nigeria, where Joshua was on holiday following his recent win over Jake Paul in Miami.

Joshua’s family roots are in Nigeria, and he had been traveling with friends in the country after his victory.
