Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury Set to Face Off in Heavyweight Boxing Match
Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that a highly anticipated heavyweight boxing match between former world champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is scheduled for later this year. The announcement was made on Monday, with Hearn posting on Instagram: “Signed, sealed, delivered! AJ v Fury is on!”
Joshua will return to the ring against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, his first fight since a car accident last December that resulted in the loss of two close friends. The American-born Albanian boxer has a record of 20 wins and one defeat since turning professional in 2016.
Fury, meanwhile, has been calling for a showdown with Joshua after outclassing Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11. Fury has expressed his desire to face Joshua in a highly anticipated battle, which Hearn has described as a “tune-up bout” before the main event.
Hearn stated that July and November are the proposed dates for the fight, with Fury having recently completed a tune-up fight against Makhmudov. The promoter expects both fighters to be sharp and ready for their respective bouts.
The match is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026, although no official date has been confirmed yet. The fight will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN, with Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh announcing the event earlier this week.
