China Conducts Second Day of Live-Fire Drills Around Taiwan
China has resumed live-fire military exercises around Taiwan for a second consecutive day, prompting Taiwanese fighter jets to take to the skies. The exercises are taking place in response to China’s recent military buildup and tensions with Taiwan.
According to reports, Chinese military personnel have been conducting drills in various locations surrounding Taiwan, including the Taiwan Strait. Taiwanese authorities have confirmed that their fighter jets were scrambled to respond to the situation.
Al Jazeera correspondent Zein Basravi is currently in Taiwan, where he has reported on the country’s response to the exercises. He stated that the military is on high alert, but there is no indication of widespread panic among the population.
Details of the drills are not being disclosed by either side, but they have been described as “live-fire” exercises. The exact nature and scope of these exercises remain unclear.
Taiwan has a long-standing relationship with China, which considers the island to be part of its territory. However, Taiwan maintains that it is an independent country. The current tensions between China and Taiwan are part of a broader regional security dynamic.
The situation remains fluid, with both sides maintaining their respective positions. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
