Manchester City to pursue legal action over Erling Haaland transfer claims

Real Madrid Presidential Candidate Riquelme Pledges to Sign Erling Haaland

Enrique Riquelme, a candidate for Real Madrid’s presidency, has made a statement regarding his intentions if elected. During an appearance on Spanish television, Riquelme held up a Real Madrid shirt bearing the name of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. He stated that he would sign Haaland to the club if elected.

Haaland’s father and agent have denied the suggestion, describing it as “not true”. However, Riquelme maintained that Haaland had a release clause and was interested in joining Real Madrid. He also expressed interest in signing City’s Spain midfielder Rodri, stating that he had spoken with his agent and would do everything possible to bring him to the club.

The comments come ahead of Sunday’s presidential election at Real Madrid, which will see Riquelme face incumbent Florentino Perez. The election marks the first time Perez is not running unopposed in two decades. Voting is open to 100,000 club members, and Haaland had previously been given the option to join Real Madrid in 2022 but chose instead to sign with City.

Perez has announced that if he wins the election, he plans to bring back Jose Mourinho as manager of Real Madrid for a second term. The Portuguese former manager won the La Liga title during his previous spell at the club.
