US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has continued to remove individuals deemed the “worst of the worst” from Minneapolis streets as part of Operation Metro Surge, a law enforcement initiative led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to DHS, this marks the 3,000th arrest made during the operation.

The operation aims to target individuals who pose a significant threat to public safety. In Minnesota, ICE has reported that it is holding approximately 1,360 criminal illegal aliens in custody, with many having been convicted of serious crimes such as murder and child rape.

Governor Tim Walz and former Mayor Jacob Frey have faced criticism from Governor Kristi Noem for allegedly ignoring requests from ICE to detain these individuals. Noem has since issued a statement disputing the claims made by Walz and Frey, stating that they were aware of the presence of these individuals in Minnesota’s custody.

ICE has arrested dozens of individuals convicted of serious crimes as part of Operation Metro Surge. The operation is ongoing, with DHS continuing to work towards its goal of removing those deemed a threat to public safety from the streets.

In total, ICE has made over 3,000 arrests during Operation Metro Surge, with many more expected in the coming days and weeks.
