Israeli Attack in Gaza City Kills at Least Ten People

At least 10 people, including four children, have been killed in an Israeli air raid on a residential building in northern Gaza City. The incident occurred hours after the funeral of Mohammad Odeh, the head of Hamas’s armed wing, who was killed in an Israeli attack on Tuesday.

According to health officials, more than 20 others were injured in the attack. The air raid took place late on Wednesday evening, with several children playing in a nearby park when the incident occurred. Parents were reluctant to leave their homes or tents due to fears of further Israeli attacks.

The attack came after dozens of Palestinians attended Odeh’s funeral, which was held hours earlier. Odeh’s wife and son were also killed in the attack on Tuesday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Odeh was Hamas’s head of intelligence at the time of the October 7, 2023 attacks.

Local authorities reported that Israel has committed over 3,000 violations of the “ceasefire” agreement since its implementation in October. Concerns are growing that both sides could return to full-blown war, with accusations of ceasefire violations on both sides. The Palestinian group claims negotiations have stalled due to continued Israeli actions and restrictions on aid entering the territory.

In a statement, Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that Israel has allowed only a fraction of the aid trucks meant to enter the enclave under the terms of the “ceasefire”. As of Wednesday, 49,973 trucks had entered the Gaza Strip out of 135,600 planned, reflecting a compliance rate of less than 36%.
