NBA Star Bam Adebayo Surpasses Kobe Bryants Scoring Record

Miami Heat player Bam Adebayo achieved a historic single-game scoring total, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s mark of 81 points in 2006. On Tuesday night, Adebayo scored 83 points as the Miami Heat defeated the Washington Wizards 150-129.

Adebayo set multiple Heat records for the highest-scoring game and quarter, with his previous career best being 41 points against the Brooklyn Nets in January 2021. In the first quarter alone, he scored 31 points, passing Bryant’s record for second place on the single-game list.

Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for most points scored in a single game, achieving 100 points in 1962. Adebayo also set NBA records for most free throws made and attempts, surpassing prior marks held by Adrian Dantley and Dwight Howard.

The Heat were without three of their top four scorers due to injuries, but Adebayo’s performance was crucial in securing the win. The team improved to 22-11 at home and matched their longest streak of the season with six consecutive victories.

Washington has lost nine straight games, while Trae Young sat out due to injury management related to his right knee. Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 28 points, but Adebayo’s shooting overshadowed him in the first half. The Heat maintained a lead throughout the game, with Adebayo scoring 19 points in the third quarter and breaking LeBron James’ record for most points scored in a single quarter.

In the fourth quarter, with the victory assured, Miami kept Adebayo on the court, passing the ball to him on every possession as he hunted for records. His last two points came from the foul line with 1:16 remaining, surpassing Bryant’s mark and securing his historic performance.
