MIAMI HEAT CENTER BAM ADEBAYO SETS NEW RECORD WITH 83-POINT PERFORMANCE
Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo achieved a historic scoring feat against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81-point record in a single NBA game. The 28-year-old shot 20-43 from the floor and 7-22 from beyond the three-point line, with 36 of his points coming from the free-throw line.
Adebayo’s performance marked the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s record-breaking 100-point game. Prior to Tuesday’s game, Adebayo was averaging just 18.9 points per night this season, placing him outside the top 40 scorers in the league.
In a post-game interview, Adebayo spoke about the significance of passing Bryant, who he idolized growing up. “I’ve always wanted to have a conversation with him,” Adebayo said. “He’ll probably say, ‘Go do it again.’”
Several NBA players took to social media to congratulate Adebayo on his achievement. LeBron James wrote: “BAM BAM BAM , Bro, what?” Jalen Brunson expressed disbelief at the feat, while Dwayne Wade simply stated: “83 for Cap.”
Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant was asked about Adebayo’s performance in a post-match news conference. “I couldn’t believe it when I was hearing about it in real time,” Durant said. “He got 30 in the first quarter… Congratulations to Bam. I know how much work he puts in.” Durant also noted that Adebayo’s achievement required a great deal of stamina and energy, as evidenced by his high number of shots and free throws taken during the game.
