Galatasaray Striker Suffers Injury in Champions League Loss to Liverpool
Liverpool defeated Galatasaray 4-0 in their UEFA Champions League match at Anfield Stadium on Wednesday, advancing to the quarterfinals against Paris Saint-Germain. The Turkish club’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, played with a broken arm during the game.
According to Galatasaray’s official statement, Osimhen suffered an injury to his right forearm during the first half of the match. He remained on the field until halftime but was unable to continue playing due to the suspected fracture. A hospital examination confirmed the diagnosis, and a cast was applied to the arm.
The injury occurred despite Galatasaray leading 1-0 following the first leg, with Liverpool level on aggregate at Anfield Stadium. However, Liverpool scored three goals in the second half, including one from Mohamed Salah, to secure the win and eliminate Galatasaray from the competition.
Osimhen’s injury status is uncertain, as he may require further testing before a decision can be made about potential surgery. The Nigerian striker had previously missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to Nigeria’s elimination in a playoff by DR Congo.
Galatasaray remains top of the Turkish league, four points ahead of Fenerbache and Trabzonspor. They will face Trabzonspor at home on Sunday.
