Multiple attacks by separatist groups in southwestern Pakistan’s province of Balochistan have resulted in significant loss of life. The conflict, known as Pakistan’s forgotten war, has been ongoing for decades in the region.
According to reports, over 100 individuals have lost their lives in a recent wave of violence. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attacks, describing them as the deadliest so far.
The BLA has increased its military operations in recent years, citing the need for an independent Balochistan. In response to the violence, Islamabad officials have pointed fingers at their perceived enemies.
Experts and politicians from both sides of the conflict will discuss the ongoing situation and potential solutions. The director of research at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute, Raashid Wali Janjua, will share his insights on the matter. Sanaullah Baloch, leader of the Balochistan National Party, will also participate in the discussion. Additionally, Ayesha Siddiqa, a senior research fellow at King’s College London’s Defence Studies Department, will provide her analysis.
The panel aims to shed light on the complexities surrounding Pakistan’s forgotten war and explore possible avenues for resolving the conflict.
