Refugees Flock to Aidas Bazaar of Return for Essential Goods and Services

Aida Refugee Camp Celebrates Eid with First-Eid Celebration in Two Years

Residents of Aida refugee camp in the West Bank have marked the first Eid celebration since 2021, setting up stalls and engaging in various activities within the camp’s perimeter.

The camp, which is surrounded by Israel’s separation wall, features military watchtowers and remote-controlled guns. On this occasion, residents took advantage of a brief window to participate in traditional festivities.

According to reports, residents set up stalls selling goods, cooked food, and created art pieces. Children were also allowed to play freely within the camp, marking a rare moment of relaxation for the community.

The event was referred to as the “Bazaar of Return,” a nod to the Palestinian demand for a right of return to their ancestral homes in Israel. This term has been used by Palestinians to describe their aspirations for a sovereign state and the right to return to their pre-1948 homeland.

This year’s celebration marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time residents have come together to mark Eid since 2021. The event highlights the resilience of the Aida refugee camp community in the face of ongoing challenges and restrictions imposed by Israel.
