Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Regions, Damaging Civilian Infrastructure
Multiple drone strikes have been reported across several regions in Russia, with Ukrainian authorities confirming involvement in the attacks. The strikes targeted energy and industrial facilities, causing damage to civilian infrastructure.
In Saratov, a region on the Volga River known for its oil refineries, Governor Roman Busargin reported that “civilian infrastructure” was damaged during overnight strikes. Ukraine’s military has acknowledged striking the Saratov oil refinery, but denied involvement in an attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
In the Kirov region, northeast of Moscow, Governor Alexander Sokolov stated that drones hit a facility in the Urzhumsky district. The Ukrainian army confirmed the attack, which also targeted the Lazarevo oil-pumping station in the same region.
Governors in the Rostov, Voronezh, and Belgorod regions reported strikes, with three civilians injured in Belgorod. On Crimea’s Russian-controlled peninsula, Governor Sergei Aksyonov announced restrictions on petrol sales without providing further details.
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requested additional air defense ammunition from Germany, citing the need for sufficient capabilities to repel Russian attacks. He also mentioned receiving a new Iris-T air defense missile launcher from Germany.
