Tyson Fury Announces Return to Boxing After 37-Year Hiatus
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has confirmed his return to professional boxing, marking a significant development in the sport’s landscape. The 37-year-old British boxer made the announcement on social media, stating that he is “back now” and “still punching.”
Fury, who retired from boxing in December 2024 after losing to Oleksandr Usyk, has been inactive for nearly three years. Prior to his retirement, Fury held a record of 35 fights, with 34 wins and one draw.
The announcement sets the stage for potential future bouts, particularly against Anthony Joshua, a fellow former world champion. However, Joshua’s immediate plans are uncertain due to an injury sustained in a fatal car crash earlier this week.
Fury has a long history in the sport, having won two world championships during his career. His most notable victories include a points win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and a trilogy with Deontay Wilder in 2020-2021.
The prospect of a showdown between Fury and Joshua has been highly anticipated for some time. Additionally, there is speculation about potential fights against Oleksandr Usyk or Fabio Wardley, the current WBO champion.
