US and India to Rebuild Trade Ties Amid China Concerns

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Visits India Amid Efforts to Strengthen Ties

Washington has sent a high-ranking official to India in an effort to strengthen bilateral relations amid ongoing trade tensions and energy politics. The visit, which took place over four days, was seen as a crucial moment for the two countries.

India’s recent shift towards Russia as its primary oil supplier has raised concerns in Washington, where the US is seeking to increase its own energy exports to the country. However, Russian crude remains cheaper than American supplies, and China has emerged as India’s largest trading partner.

The visit comes at a time when global energy markets are facing significant challenges due to the ongoing conflict with Iran. As a result, India is under pressure to make urgent decisions about its oil and gas purchases. The US government is seeking to capitalize on this situation by offering more energy supplies to India.

During his stay in India, Secretary Rubio engaged in discussions with Indian officials aimed at strengthening trade ties between the two countries. Both sides have expressed interest in pursuing a broader trade agreement, which could potentially address some of the current tensions.
